How tulips are planted

Hi! I just want to share some information on how tulips are planted. According to one of the websites that I found (esaimen pun tak wat cenggini), there are seven stages of a tulip bulb's growth. Refer to the picture below. 
As you know, planting tulips really takes time. That is why Keukenhof (pronounced as [ˈkøːkə(n)ˌɦɔf])) is opened once a year. For this year, Keukenhof will be closed starting from 22th October 2012 until 20th March 2013. I bet it is time to grow new fields of tulips! 

Before that, this is how tulip bulb look like:

So, here are the seven stages to plant tulips. It is time-based planting. hehehe.. (memandai je.huhu)

1. Sept.- Oct.

Planting Time

The tulip bulbs are going to be planted. Most important: plant them twice as deep as the bulb is high. They have no roots at this stage.

2. November 

Making Roots

The roots start growing out of the base. They establish themselves in the dirt and take nourishment out of the dirt, the mother bulbs get ready for winter.

3. Dec. - Jan.

Cooling Period

Now starts the rest period. In order for the bulbs to bloom in the spring, they need weeks of at least 5 c. or 40 f. Frost at this time does not harm the bulbs.

4. Feb. - March

Growing Period

The bulbs begin to change as the starch, or carbohydrates in them turns to sugar. As this occurs, the leaves and flower gradually push up-wards out of the bulb.

5. April - May
Blooming Time
The tulips are in bloom-they receive their nourishment from the roots-only the brown skin of the bulb remains as all of the energy has gone to the bloom.

6. May - June
Regeneration
After the blooming period-the blooms are cut and the leaves are left on the plant. The new daughter-bulbs will be using the food values of the leaves to grow.

7. July - Sept.
Multiplying
Up to five small bulbs can be expected to grow out of the mother bulb. They form their roots slowly, and develop their blooms and leaves within the bulb, for next year's plant.

Halfest 2012 @PWTC

Finally, terjejak jugak kaki nie ke Halfest untuk tahun 2012 nie.. Halfest tahun ini dibuka pada 10 Oktober 2012 hingga 14 Oktober 2012. So, masih berbaki 3 hari bagi sesiapa yang nak pergi. Kalau tahun lepas, Halfest dibuka sekitar tarikh ni jugak.. Kami pergi pada 15 Oktober 2011 masa tu..

Dan lagi satu, tahun lepas dia bagi wristband sebagai pass pelawat, tapi tahun nie dia bagi sticker untuk dilekatkan kat tangan.. Malangnya, sticker tu dah terjatuh masa kat dalam Hall 2..

Bila pergi weekday ni, memanglah orang kurang sesak sikit. Sengaja pergi weekday sebab tak nak sesak.. Boleh nampak la orangnya tak berapa ramai, kalau nak compare dengan tahun lepas, MasyaAllah orangnya bersesak-sesak. Nak jalan pun susah!

Time nak register tu, lupa pulak nak bawak pen yang boleh pakai. Sebab pen yang terbawa dalam bag tu takde ink! Malang sungguh! Habis pusing dua kaunter isi borang semata-mata nak isi registration form tu.. Akhirnya, kami mintak je dengan akak yang bertugas kat laluan masuk ke kaunter pendaftaran. Hehehe..Itu pun dapat yang takde cap..Hahaha.. Pape pun, thanks a lot akak! :D

Decoration yang berjaya menarik perhatian kami. Rupa-rupanya ada betul-betul kat atas kepala kami!

Penat jalan plus dahaga, singgah kat booth Coolblog. Beli satu sorang. Akmal belanja. Thanks Akmal.. hehe

Okayh, penat pusing. Stop kat centre tu dulu.. Cuci mata tengok ragam orang yang pelbagai jenis.

Kononnya baru lepas habis assignments, so kami menjejakkan kaki ke The Mall pulak. Sebelah PWTC tu je.. Meronda je keje kitorang. Pusing-pusing. Tengok kasut, baju, beg.. Tapi satu pun tak beli pasal tak cukup duit. Al maklum la, dah penghujung semester. Duit tu cukup2 untuk makan je. Hehehe.. Finally, balik makan kat Scud jer.. hahaha =D
